What's inside

Six sheets that take you from questions to a plan

Assessment

48 questions in six areas, each with a plain-English description of what "good" looks like, so you know what you are scoring against.

Summary

Scores per area and overall, a rating from Strong to At risk, a chart, and a count of critical gaps: high-impact items scored 0 or 1.

Action Plan

Your 15 biggest gaps, ranked automatically by impact, with space for action, owner, due date and status.

Stage Focus

The questions that matter most for a company at Launch, Growth, Established or Change stage, highlighted for you.

Weighted scoring

Every question has an impact weight. A missing backup counts more than an untidy ticket system, as it should.

Who it is for

Founders, CEOs, COOs and operations leads who are responsible for IT but do not run it day to day.

  • You rely on vendors and want to know what you actually own
  • IT costs keep growing and you want to know where to look
  • A big decision is coming and you want a baseline first
  • You inherited systems and contracts from someone else
  • You want to repeat the same check every year and see progress

Questions

What format is it?

An Excel file (.xlsx). It works in Microsoft Excel 2016 or later, Excel for Mac, and Google Sheets via File > Import. All scoring is done with standard formulas, no macros.

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. Every question comes with a description of what "good" looks like in plain English. For a few questions you may want to ask your IT person or vendor, which is often useful in itself.

How long does it take?

Most people need 60 to 90 minutes. You can stop at any time; the scores update as you go.

Can I use it for several companies?

The license covers one organization. If you are a consultant or want to use it with clients, write to us at hello@mvpsharks.com.

What if the results worry me?

That is what it is for. The Action Plan tells you where to start. If you want an independent look at what is really behind the scores, we offer spot checks and full audits.
